Barbara Ann Kreder

Barbara Ann Kreder, 72, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Hackensack, she grew up in Saddlebrook and lived in Irvington before moving to North Plainfield in 1989.
Barbara attended the A. Harry Moore School in Jersey City and graduated from Midland Park High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degrees from Kean College in English, Education and Sp thierr eech.
Barbara contracted polio as baby and although she had to live with the effects of post-polio syndrome later in life, she lived a very active life serving her community. Barbara was a longtime volunteer with CONTACT We Care, answering phone calls on the suicide hotline and managing over 100 volunteers. She received the 2011 Governor's Jefferson Award for her volunteer service.
Barbara also volunteered with Boy Scouts of America as a Den Mother, Pack Leader and Troop Leader; served on both the North Plainfield Library Board and Planning Board; and was a parishioner and reader at St. Joseph's RC Church in North Plainfield.
She will be remembered for her hard work and her wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by her loving husband, Frank.
Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, on Tuesday, April 5th from 4 PM to 8 PM. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's RC Church in North Plainfield on Wednesday at 10 AM. Cremation will be private.
