Barbara Jane La Rue, 73, of Waupaca, Wisconsin went to her heavenly home on June 4, 2025. She resided on Long Lake on the Waupaca Chain O' Lakes. She was born on February 2, 1952 in La Crosse to Howard and Nona (Fillner) Barenthin. Barb married Thomas La Rue on September 26, 1981 in Appleton.
Barb graduated from Galesvile High School in 1969 and 4 years later from U-W La Crosse with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She was a member of the Sigma Sigma National Service Society. Barb served an internship at the Wisconsin Veterans Home-King recreation department also was a Physical Therapist at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. For 25 years, Barb was also the property manager at "La Rue Condo" on the Chain O' Lakes in Waupaca
Her hobbies included golfing, playing softball, curling, was a member of the Waupaca Chain Skiers, loved water, downhill and cross country skiing around to many lakes, trails, and resorts; around many states and other countries. Barb was organized, was a perfectionist, loved decorating, and had a gift of making everything perfect. She loved to dance with Tom, and travel to many places. Barb was a member of the Lupus Awareness Foundation. She loved Badger football and Brewer baseball, but her biggest fan was her loving Canine Companion, Sir Buckwheat Foxmoore, AKA "BUCKY BOY."
She is survived by her husband, Tom; her mother, Nona; children: Heather (Todd Van Boxtel) La Rue, Clint (Abby) La Rue; grandchildren: Tommy, Ashton, Alivia, Eva, Aylani; brother, Roger Barenthin. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Barenthin; daughter, Jessica; along with "BUCKY BOY."
A Memorial Service for Barbara will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Dahlke Life Celebration Center in Weyauwega with Reverend Dr. Charles Tews officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Dahlke Life Celebration Center from 10:30 AM to 12:15 PM on Wednesday. A private family entombment of cremains will follow at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the Staff and Doctors of Theda Care Waupaca and Theda Care Hospice for the exceptional care provided to Barb while she was a patient.
