KENDALLVILLE - Barbara Jean Long, affectionately known as Barb, passed away on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, in Kendallville, Indiana.
Born on April 17, 1938, in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the epitome of love, kindness and selflessness throughout her 87 years of life.
Barb was the cherished daughter of the late Carl and Jenny (Waller) Long Jr. She grew up in a bustling household, surrounded by her four brothers, James, Ted (Debby), Raymond and Ed (Rose Marie) Long, who will forever remember her warm spirit and compassionate nature. She held dear and was very proud of all her brothers serving during the Vietnam War.
Barb was also the vice president of the GMP Union.
Though she never had children of her own, Barb radiated maternal warmth and affection to her nephew, Jason Long, and great-niece, Savannah Long, whom she loved as if they were her own. Her character - an interweaving of joy and tenderness, strength and humility - touched all members of her extensive family, including her many nieces and nephews. Each of them hold treasured memories of time spent with their dear Aunt Barb.
A remembrance service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home, in Nicholasville, Kentucky, with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery, Nicholasville.
