Barbara Jane (Chiater) Lucas, 78, of Kitzmiller, passed away at her home on July 7, 2025. Born on August 16, 1946, in Fairmont, WV, she was the daughter of the late Steve Chiater and Emily Joann Haught.
Barbara worked as a building manager for VMI Russell Building. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, R. Allen Lucas, Jr., and wife Patty, Kimberly Moon, and J. Scott Lucas, all of Kitzmiller; eight grandchildren, Allen Sweitzer, Theresa Harvey, Chris Reynolds, Beth Reynolds, Jimmy Lucas, Brandon Lucas, Isabel Lucas, and Abigail Lucas; two great grandchildren, Peyton and Landyn Harvey; and a sister, Charlotte Furr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lucas Sr., whom she married on December of 1965; a son, Guy Lucas; a grandson, Ryan Reynolds; and two sisters, Elizabeth and DeEtta.
Barbara's request to be cremated was honored. She will be buried at a later date with her husband in the Kalbaugh Cemetery in Elk Garden, WV. No services are scheduled at this time.
