Cremation Society of New Hampshire - NashuaBarbara Jean (Magyar) Macasay, 73, of Nashua, NH, beloved wife of the late Charles Macasay, died on November 20, 2025, in Nashua. Born in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late John Magyar and Anne (Macdonald) Magyar. She spent her youth in Shelton, CT, and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Trumbull, CT, and the Hartford Institute of Accounting in Hartford, CT. She worked for a few years in Hartford before moving to Boston, where she worked for the federal government until retirement. One of her positions was with the Federal Information Center, where, before Alexa, Siri, or Google, she faithfully provided answers to the random questions from callers around the country. Barbara was always the one the family turned to when they wanted the answer to some question involving family history.
Barbara spent many Saturdays introducing her son Sam to Boston’s museums and historic sites, and shared his passion for the city’s sports teams. She also enjoyed traveling, music, and theater. For many years Barbara and her family lived in Brighton, MA, until their recent move to Nashua. Barbara adored Sam and Lindsay’s dogs. They brought her comfort and joy, and she loved them dearly.
She is survived by her son Samuel Macasay and his wife Lindsay, and her sister Ann Magyar of Nashua, her brother James Magyar (Elaine) of Providence, RI, and nephews John, Andrew, and Paul Magyar. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Ellen Stoppel (Paul), and nieces Marie and Elise as well as several grandnieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be on Wednesday, December 3, at 10:00 AM at St Joseph the Worker Church, 777 W Hollis St, Nashua, NH 03062. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in her memory may be sent to Cape Ann Animal Aid (capeannanimalaid.org).
