Barbara Ann Meneley Mader went to her heavenly home on March 7, 2025. She was born and raised in rural central Illinois and graduated from Burnham School of Nursing in 1953, where she was chosen most likely to succeed in her class. She married George Edward Mader in April of 1954, they had four children: Theresa, Julie, David, and George. Barbara spent the early years of marriage raising their family, but became involved in various political and environmental causes as the children grew. A job change moved the family to El Paso and Barbara returned to work as a public health nurse. After sustaining a serious injury during a white-water rafting trip, she began to explore alternative medicine. This interest led to the founding of the High Mesa Healing Center in Alto, NM. High Mesa has been a local Mecca for seekers and healers since 1994.
Barbara is survived by her husband George Edward Mader, daughter Terry Mader and her husband David Suter, daughter Julie Mader Cintron and her husband Richard Cintron, son David Mader and his wife Mandy Mader, and son George Mader and his wife Jenny Mader. Barbara is also survived by grandchildren Hannah Mader, Joshua Mader, Jordan Cintron, Justin Cintron, Katherine Mader, and Christopher Mader, plus many loved nieces and nephews.
