Barbara Maness Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hewett - Arney Funeral Home on Jan. 19, 2026.
Barbara Sue Maness, 77, of Rosebud, Texas, passed peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple. She passed with her husband, Stacy, at her side.
Born October 12, 1948, Barbara Sue Rankin became a devoted mother at a young age, raising her son Kenneth Dale as a single parent beginning in 1966. In 1971, she married Stacy Allan Maness, and together they welcomed their son Sammy Allan in January of 1973.
Throughout their life together, Barbara and Stacy lived in several western states, including California, Oregon, Arizona, and New Mexico, before settling permanently in Texas. In 1976, Rosebud became Barbara's true home, where the family purchased the house she would cherish for the remainder of her life.
Barbara was deeply involved in her family and community. She and Stacy raised two sons, Sammy and Kenny, instilling values that shaped not only their lives but also the lives of many others she touched through her work as a school bus driver and her enthusiastic support of extracurricular activities. A talented and dedicated crafter, Barbara earned numerous blue ribbons for her crochet and ceramics, filling drawers with State Fair awards.
Barbara and Stacy shared a love of travel, journeying across the United States by camper, trailer, and motorcycle. In their younger years, these travels often combined seeing new places with participating in rodeos, creating lasting memories of adventure and companionship.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 55 (and a quarter) years, Stacy Allen Maness; her sons, Kenneth Dale and Sammy Allen; her grandchildren, Kasey, Jaiden, and Dale; and her great-grandchildren, Baylin and Rowdy.
Barbara faced a brief battle with cancer, lasting less than two months. In accordance with her wishes, her body will be cremated and, when the time comes, joined with Stacy's. Barbara's presence was deeply felt, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and positive influence on all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with these arrangements.

So sorry to hear this sad news. Lots of us Rosebud-Lott kids called her Mom, especially band and theater kids. You'll be missed, Mom. Prayers to Stacey and the rest of her family.
