Barbara J. Marcoux

NORTH STRATFORD – Barbara J. Marcoux, 83, of North Stratford, passed away unexpectedly late on Saturday evening, Nov. 22, 2025, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook after a long period of declining health and with her husband at her side.

She was born in New Bedford, Mass., on Dec. 29, 1941, a daughter to the late Warren and Martha (Stevens) Allen.

Barbara was raised in many different locations throughout New England due to her father's career with the telephone company. She enjoyed her time in Maine and especially her time in the Concord, N.H., area from which she graduated high school in 1960. She worked for a time at Raytheon Corp., and later as a special education teacher's aide. Barbara had a gift for making everyone in her life feel deeply loved and cared for. She was always willing to share whatever she had in order to help others. Barbara showered her family and friends, and whomever she met with love. She was a devoted wife and mother and a very proud grandmother.

She enjoyed photography and was a very talented writer, and her journals will be treasured by her family. Barbara loved her flowers, and her property has many different garden areas that showcase her love of her flowers. She was also a music lover, and enjoyed all things in nature.

Her health struggles of the last five years included two heart attacks, two strokes and two bouts of pneumonia just this past summer; but she was tenacious and deeply cherished life. It was remarkable to see the strength and dignity that she displayed.

Barbara leaves behind her beloved husband of the last 31 years, Brian Marcoux of North Stratford; her four children: Christopher Kelley of North Stratford, Heidi Gregory of Manchester, N.H., Hans (Terri) Lefevbre of Florida, and Heather Reyes of Texas; six grandchildren: Joshua Gregory, Ashley Gregory, Bryan Reyes, Miguel Reyes, Kayleigh Phillips and Jonathan Lefevbre; and eight great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by a brother at his birth, Luke Allen.

Memorial calling hours will be held at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook on Wed., Dec. 10, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. Other services will be private on a later date.
