Barbara Ann Marold

Sadly, Barbara Ann Marold of Lowell, MI., peacefully passed away on January 12, 2024, after a brief illness. Barbara was born on June 28, 1943, in Flint, MI. and was the daughter of Robert S. and Donna Maxine Hetchler. She was a graduate of Flint Northern High School and Flint Junior College. During her years in Flint, she modeled for display advertising and sang professionally with several groups, one of which was offered a recording contract with Decca Records. She modeled as late as 2018, for display ads for senior citizens activities in the Grand Rapids area.
Barb's interests and talents were varied, as witnessed by her career move to Washington D.C. to take a job with the Department of the Army in the Pentagon. She rose to become a liaison officer between the D.A. and the C.I.A. during the Vietnamese war, a position of the highest confidentiality.
After several years, her love of Michigan and family brought her back to Michigan, where she she married Charles Marold, her high school boyfriend, and moved to Grand Rapids. He was the love of her life, and they remained together until his passing at the turn of the century.
Barbara was a devoted Christian, whose life was guided by her faith, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her brother, Robert M. Hetchler, her nephew Robert K. Hetchler and nieces Hannah J. Rausch and Bryce M. Meck and an extended family.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
