Glenn Marold Obituary

Montpelier, VT
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenn Michael Marold, who left this world on December 8, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on May 24, 1954, in New Brunswick, NJ, Glenn spent his life dedicated to serving others through emergency services and sharing his passion for music.
Glenn proudly served for over 20 years as a firefighter/EMT with the Montpelier Fire Department, a role that exemplified his commitment to his community. His dedication to service was matched only by his love for music. Before embarking on his firefighting career, he attended Trenton State College but quickly left for Cape Cod in order to start a band. After moving to Vermont in 1992, he could be found playing at local bars on the weekends, including Charlie O's". His guitar skills and love of music were a gift he passed down to his grandson, Will.
In addition to his firefighting career, Glenn also worked as the proud owner of Uncle Mike's Deli on State Street in Montpelier. Although many people mistakenly referred to Glenn as "Mike", the deli was actually named after his favorite uncle.
Glenn is survived by his loving spouse, Carol Marold, who he married in 2005, and his son, Fred Manahan, his daughter in law, Carol Manahan, and grandson, Will Manahan; his brothers, Thomas "Bones" Marold of Boundbrook, NJ, and Jack Marold of Flemington, NJ; and 8 nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 5:00-7:00 on Friday, December 19, 2025 at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A short informal service will begin at 7:00 pm. Family, friends, and community members are invited to gather and share memories that celebrate the life Glenn led.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Glenn's name to a local charity that supports first responders.
He will be deeply missed, but his spirit and contributions to the lives of those he touched will never be forgotten.
