Barbara Menser Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Aug. 18, 2025.
Barbara Sue Menser passed peacefully from this life on August 15, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on January 3, 1947, Barbara lived a life marked by love, loyalty, and quiet strength.

Barbara found joy in life's simple pleasures, from the first blooms of planting season in her garden, a good game of solitaire on the computer, to occasionally watching women's softball on TV. Above all, she cherished watching her grandson play baseball. Even when she could no longer attend in person, she faithfully followed every play on Game Changer.

She had a fondness for the comforting rhythm of classic television, especially Little House on the Prairie, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Blue Bloods, and Hallmark Christmas movies. Barbara loved listening to classic country and gospel music, always finding peace in familiar tunes.

Barbara had a knack for making people feel at home, often through her cooking. Her chicken and rice, ham and beans with fried "taters," and grilled cheese sandwiches were family favorites. She enjoyed dining out at her favorite spots - Woodbridge, Los Tacos, El Chico, Cracker Barrel, and Dan's Onion Burgers.

A proud graduate of Putnam City High School, Class of 1965, Barbara worked in the food industry at Taco Tico and Sonic before transitioning to other roles that included Moore Printing and later Vermeer. She retired in 2010 to devote her time to her greatest joy, being "Mamaw" to her beloved grandson.

Barbara was known for her deep and unwavering love. She gave freely, supported fiercely, and "mama'd" with all her heart. She was always there, often before you even asked. Her family was her world, and she was the heart of theirs. Whether sitting by the fire at Chickasha Lake, playing cards and dominos (and playfully accusing her husband of cheating), or simply being surrounded by loved ones, Barbara was happiest when her family was near.

Barbara was strong-willed, a little ornery at times, and endlessly devoted. She lived and loved with her whole heart, and in doing so, taught her family the true meaning of unconditional love.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Melvin Leroy Menser, her sons Gary Menser, Robert Menser and his wife Mika, and her treasured grandson Trey. She also leaves behind her brother Roy Dee Matlock, and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Barbara Sue Menser's legacy is one of warmth, love, and family - a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
