Barbara Lee Robinson Miller

On Monday, May 5, 2025, Barbara "Nonie" Miller left her earthly body at Ashby Ponds in Ashburn, Virginia, with her daughter and son by her side after complications from a stroke.

Born October 13, 1937 Barbara grew up in Arlington Virginia. She married Jack Miller in 1957 and they had 59 happy years together. Barbara leaves behind her daughter Caryn Franca (Jim); and a son, David Miller (Robin). Barbara "Nonie" was very proud to be the grandmother of four grandchildren; Alyson Pollard, Jeffrey Franca, Nicholas Franca, and Carl Miller. She was blessed to also have three great grandchildren; Alexis Pollard, Trey Pollard, and Jackson Pollard.

After raising her family in Northern Virginia, she enjoyed 21 years at Lake of the Woods in Locust Grove Virginia. She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church and an active member at the Lake of the Woods Church. She served her spiritual community in many ways, including volunteering in a prison ministry.

Barbara received her Master's Degree late in life and taught English at Germanna Community College for ten years. She loved gardening, writing and spending time with family and friends. They eventually returned to Northern, Virginia to be closer to family and she enjoyed many years at Ashby Ponds in Ashburn, VA.

A celebration of life service will be held at Galilee United Methodist Church, 45425 Winding Road, Sterling, Virginia on Friday May 30, at 11 a.m. A reception in the fellowship hall will follow.

In Lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to Band of Parents www.bandofparents.org a foundation her daughter helped start to fund less toxic treatments for neuroblastoma and other childhood cancers. Donations can also be made to the Peripheral Nerve Society, www.pnsociety.com. Barbara battled neuropathy for over 25 years.
