Barbara Worden Mitchell (93) passed away on July 15, 2025 in Tallahassee, Florida where she has spent the last 56 years. She was born on January 4, 1932 in Rainbow Springs, North Carolina to parents Frank and Bessie Worden. Growing up with eight siblings, Barbara learned to speak her mind at an early age. She graduated from Chapman High School of Apalachicola before marrying and starting a family with Joe Kirvin. Barbara was a bookkeeper at Jim Irving CPA for many years prior to retiring. Barbara was very active throughout her life. She enjoyed listening to music, playing piano and was an avid Seminole fan. Upon meeting her second husband, Turner Mitchell, they shared a love for weekend traveling, golfing, playing pool and bowling. Above all, she was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her life was lived around her family. Survivors include her children Stephen Kirvin, Cindy Yeager (Jim) and Madelyn Pullen (Joe); grandchildren Joe Powell (Allison), Sam Powell (Cathy) and Michael Wood; great-grandchildren Joseph Powell, Sammy Powell, Adelyn Powell, Benjamin Powell and Lily Wood as well as her brother, Joe Worden. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. Barbara was preceded in passing by her parents and siblings John, Keith, Helen, Madelyn, Margie, Betty and Mary Louise as well as her youngest son, "Little Joe" Kirvin. A funeral service will be held at Bevis Funeral Home on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 11:00am with a brief reception to follow.
