Barbara Mortemore Obituary
Barbara Jean Mortemore entered the heavenly gates of her eternal home on July 7, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born at home in Sylvania, OH, to Edward and Edith McGuire on November 17, 1929. She was the youngest of her siblings and graduated from Burnham High School in 1948. Barb met her sweetheart, Gerald Mortemore, in high school. They were united in marriage on October 4, 1952. Together they raised three beautiful daughters and were happily married for over 70 years. Barb worked as a Bridal Consultant at the Lion Store and retired after 20+ years. She was a faithful Christ follower and a renowned prayer warrior among all who knew her. Barb formally served as a Sunday School teacher, deaconess, and as a member of various church committees. She was also a longtime member of Westgate Chapel.
Barb enjoyed reading, cross stitch, word puzzles, gospel music, swimming, baking, and spending time with her family. Gerald and Barb also enjoyed many winters in Florida soaking up the sun and creating fond memories with their friends.
Barb is survived by her husband, Gerald; children, Tina (Bill) Sallee, Karen (David) Givens; and son-in-law, Rod Segur; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was known as "Aunt Bobbie" to many loving nieces and nephews. Barb was proceeded in death by her daughter, Lisa Segur; and her grandson, Andrew Voorhees. She often expressed her desire to see her loved ones again, developing the saying, "Whether here, there, or in the air; we will meet again!"
Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Westgate Chapel, 2500 Wilford Drive, Toledo. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Westgate Chapel for missions. Barb's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible nurses at Ebeid ProMedica Hospice for their amazing care. Mort, I want you to know how sad I am that you have lost Barb. She was a true lady who so enjoyed everything with which she was involved. And of course her love for you was unquestioned. My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.
