Barbara Murphy

Barbara Murphy (nee Davenport), a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, at the age of 79 in Marlton Lakes, NJ. Born on April 24, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA, Barbara's life was a testament to the power of nurturing and devotion.
Barbara's journey began alongside her late and cherished husband of 55 years, William "Bill" Murphy. Together, they built a life founded on love, faith, and community. Barbara's legacy is carried on through her loving daughters, Kimberly Scaffidi (Ross) and Cynthia Meldrum (Christopher), her adored grandchildren, Brendan (Rebecca), Aidan, Siobhan, Sean, and Ryan, and her treasured great-grandchildren, Lane and Alina.
For over 54 years, Barbara's home in Marlton Lakes was not just a residence but a workshop of wonder where she crafted cakes and decorated confections that brought joy to countless celebrations. Her hands, always busy mixing and molding, baked love into every creation, particularly the wedding cakes for her daughters and the birthday cakes that marked each grandchild's milestones.
Barbara's passion for baking was matched only by her commitment to her community. A lifelong volunteer, she dedicated over 40 years to the Virtua West Jersey Auxiliary, where selling Thursday Pretzels became a beloved tradition. Her service extended to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where she embraced the roles of school mom, carnival funnel cake booth volunteer, and Bingo organizer with grace and enthusiasm.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday December 11th from 10-10:45 AM at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 100 Willow Bend Rd., Marlton, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday at the church. Interment will be private.
