Barbara Nell Nash

Barbara Nell Alexander Nash, age 93, of Clarksville, TN, formerly of Hopkinsville, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home and burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 1:00 PM until the service hour at 2:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Homes has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.

Mrs. Nash was born on June 5, 1932, in Hopkinsville, KY, the daughter of the late Lynn Boyd and Bertie Clark Alexander. Barbara was a graduate of Hopkinsville High School and Bethel College. She began her career as a Legal Secretary for the law firm of Trimble, Soyars, & Breathitt. She then served as Assistant to Governor Edward T. Breathitt, eventually retiring from the State of Kentucky as a District Monitor for Social Services. She was an active member of the Hopkinsville Church of Christ. She also served as an active volunteer in a number of organizations including the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County, Literacy Council, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and active membership in the Democratic Women's Club, Widowed Persons Services, AARP, and Hopkinsville Professional Secretaries. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arbie Ellis Nash; and a grandson, Graham Garrett.

She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Steven) Garrett of Clarksville, TN, and Martha (Tom) Caywood of Lexington, KY; six grandchildren, Grantland Garrett, Angela (T.C.) Loughery, Talbot (Katherine) Caywood, Christine (Derik) Gillum, Thomas Alexander Caywood and Maxwell Lowry Caywood;; seven great-grandchildren, Ethan Garrett, Kaylee Gillum, Garrett Gillum, Sheridan Loughery, Leighton Caywood, Moxley Caywood and Beckett Caywood.
