Barbara Nicks was born on April 25th, 1951, in Oneida, Clay County, Kentucky, to loving parents James Woodward and Kathleen Woodward (Mont), and she passed on to Heaven at age 74 on August 16th, 2025, in The Heights, Houston, Harris County, Texas, due to septic shock and liver failure.
The memorial service will be held for Barbara Nicks on August 23rd, 2025, at 10 AM at the Real Church Pinehurst, 32919 SH 249, Pinehurst, Texas 77362. All are welcome to attend. Livestream will be available.
Barbara will be buried at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas, with her late husband, Jimmy Nicks.
Barbara was the daughter of the late James and Kathleen (Mont) Woodward of London, Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Nicks, of Magnolia, Texas; three brothers, Lowell, Martin, and Doyle Woodward; and his wife, Marcella Martin Woodward. Additionally, she was preceded in death by one sister, Irma Woodward Adams, and her husband, Gordon. She was also preceded in death by two nephews, Kieth Woodward and Dwayne Vaughn, and her brother-in-law, Earl Vaughn.
Barbara is survived by her special needs son, John Nicks, of Houston, Texas, 1 sister, Lois Vaughn, and 4 brothers, Larry and his wife Hilda, of London, Kentucky, Ronny and his wife Vicki, of Winchester, Kentucky, Phillip and his wife Mary of Somerset, Kentucky; and Bill Woodward of London, Kentucky. Seven nieces and 6 nephews also survive her.
Barbara was a proud US Army Veteran, a former pastor's wife, and an intercessory prayer warrior in a mission of reaching the lost with her activities.
Barbara also volunteered with Houston ISD as a classroom aide to assist Jimmy Nicks, her husband and High School Special Education Teacher, before he retired.
Barbara loved to listen to Southern Gospel Music, read her Bible, pray, worship God, and would go out of her way to help and pray for someone in need in her daily affairs.
Barbara is no longer suffering or in pain and resides in her Heavenly body.
Barbara was a soldier and fighter until the very end and will be missed forever.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations are requested. They will be split evenly between Real Church Pinehurst and the Through The Roof Ministry of the Loop Campus of Houston's First Baptist Church. Individuals may donate directly to Real Church Pinehust.
