In loving memory of Barbara Ann Nie, born February 16, 1939 and peacefully departed at home Friday June 6, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Barb was preceded in death by parents Frank and Allie Mae Meyer and her brother Jerry.
She is survived by her husband, Lou, of nearly 67 years, and siblings Lois Carr (Lou) and Linda Wise (Jim), and Bruce Meyer (Cathy), her three loving sons Lou (Jenny), Chris (Mary), and Joe, grandchildren Nicole (Nick) Marsh, Laura (Connor) Olson, Christina (Andrew) Smith, Sarah, Olivia, Lily, LJ, Nick, and Maggie, and many nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Barb grew up in the North Fairmount area of Cincinnati, attended St. Leo grade school and Mother of Mercy High School. After High School, she worked at Procter and Gamble, then raised her three sons. Later she worked at Elder High School while her sons were students. After her last son graduated from Elder, Barb worked for the IRS in Covington, KY as a floor supervisor for several years. Barb fell in love with Elder. Her and Lou held season tickets to Elder football and basketball for over 40 years watching nearly every freshmen, JV, and varsity games during that time.
Barb most enjoyed watching her sons and grandchildren play sports or perform dance routines. She had a terrific eye for creativity and for decorating. Her favorite hobbies were decorating her house for the seasons and for the holidays, especially Christmas, taking care of her flower gardens, and ceramics class where she created beautiful, but practical works of art.
She loved her sons so much that everything she made, planted, or acquired, was done in threes – one for each of them.
Barb will also be remembered for her organization skills and her relentless pursuit to make sure the student athletes at St. Lawrence grade school in Price Hill had the best possible equipment and uniforms she could provide each team during her years as the equipment manager. Each season she made sure uniforms and equipment were clean and organized, and ready for the next season.
In keeping with Barb’s wishes, a private, graveside ceremony will be held with her immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Barb’s name to either Elder High School, 3900 Vincent Ave. Cincinnati, Ohio 45205 or to Hospice of Cincinnati, 4310 Cooper Rd. Cincinnati, Ohio 45242.
