Barbara Nodine Obituary

Barbara Nodine, 88, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, at Columbia Cottage, near her home in Annville. She was born on July 19, 1937, and proudly proclaimed throughout her life that she was the daughter of an Italian immigrant-a heritage she cherished deeply.
A college professor at Arcadia University (formerly Beaver College) in the Philadelphia area, she was an active member of the faculty. Chair of Psychology Department, textbook author, Dean of Arts and Sciences, and Provost before retirement after almost half a century describe her career. The most gratifying of all is the role of professor, for which she has been awarded numerous citations, distinctions, and awards.
Barbara raised her family in the suburbs of Philadelphia and always considered herself a true Philadelphian. She was a devoted fan of the Eagles and the Phillies, and later in life fulfilled a dream of owning an apartment in downtown Philadelphia.
She was also a member of the Main Line Unitarian Church, where she found community and connection. She had a special gift for bringing family together-a passion everyone knew well, especially when family reunion time of year approached.
Barbara found great joy in travel and tradition. Summer vacations were often spent in Ocean City, New Jersey, creating lasting family memories. In later years, she expanded her travels to include trips to Italy and cruises, embracing new adventures.
She is survived by two daughters, Renee D. Nodine and husband Alexander Levengood of Annville, and Linda N. Jacobson and husband Michael of State College; a son, Richard L. Nodine of London, England; five grandchildren, Sarah Wengerd, Clayton Levengood, Daria Jacobson, Emma Jacobson, and Stella Nodine; sisters, Jean Simpson and Sue Baker. She was predeceased by her sister, Linda Horn.
A celebration of life will be published upon completion for late April. Burial will be private at a later date. Barbara, true to her belief, gifted her body to science with Humanity Gifts Registration.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blood Cancer United at www.givenow.bloodcancerunited.org
Barbara will be remembered for her intelligence, warmth, strong sense of identity, and deep love for her family.
