Barbara B. Olynyk

Barbara Beatrice Olynyk went home to be with the Lord on Monday June 30, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Barbara (Oma) was born on March 28, 1936 in Trenton, NJ and grew up on the family farm in Robbinsville, NJ. She graduated from Hamilton High School West. Harry and Barbara were married on July 14, 1956. After Harry passed away in 1978, she raised her children while working at Yardville Supply and K-Mart. She retired from Hamilton Hospital as a nursing assistant. She loved raising her children and helping with her grandchildren. Her favorite place to take them was "her kitchen" at McDonald's. Many other friends and their children also called her Oma. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for family and friends, yard sales and generally caring for other people. She volunteered for meals on wheels as well as singing in the choir at First Baptist Church in Allentown, NJ. She moved to Ocean Pines, MD in 2010.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harry John Olynyk, Sr., her parents Walter and Bertha Fues, her brother Walter Fues, Jr., her granddaughter Lauren Felicia Olynyk, her son-in-law Randale Spurgin and many Olynyk in-laws. She is survived by her five children: Harry (Skip) and Carolyn Olynyk, Charles and Jacqueline Olynyk, Suzann Spurgin, Sharon and Phillip Liggett and Frieda Kornetti; her grandchildren Nathan Olynyk and John Waldman, Sierra, Robert, Nicole and John Kornetti, Jeffery and Allison, Collin and Kaitlin, and Matthew Spurgin; and her great-grandchildren Harper, Savannah, River and Alexandra Spurgin. She is also survived by her sister Frieda Olynyk, and her sister-in-law Eunice Fues and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 1 PM at Sonrise Church, 10026 N Main St, Berlin, MD 21811, where she attended.
