Barbara Claudine Osiecki, age 89, of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the Beaver City Manor, Beaver City, Nebraska. She was born on Nov. 7, 1936 at Adams County, Iowa to Lowell Rush and Eva Margaret (Spring) Wilson.
She attended country schools in Adams County (usually riding or driving horse and cart). She graduated from Lenox High School in 1954. Upon graduation she entered nurses training at Broadlawn’s Polk County Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated and became a registered nurse in September 1957.
On June 1, 1957, Barbara and Edward R. Osiecki (who was originally from Wisconsin) were married. After graduation, she then moved to join Ed in Chicago. In 1958, they had the opportunity to move to Iowa and open a 24-hour truck stop on Highway 34. Barbara worked at the local hospitals plus private duty until becoming Lenox School Nurse. This was besides filling in at the truck stop, becoming the mother of three lively children and devoting time to her church.
In 1970, they sold the truck stop and moved to Golden, Colorado where they resided until 1996. While living in Colorado, Barbara worked for 22 years with special needs students in Jefferson County Schools. She also taught catechism, was a Den Mother, and helped with 4-H.
In May of 1996, Ed and Barb moved to Arapahoe, Nebraska. There she was a member of St. Germanus Church and American Legion Auxiliary Unit #96 and #199. She volunteered with the Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. She loved to cook, especially bake, and therefore entered the fair several years.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Edward, infant daughter Raechel; her parents, sister Lorraine Helm Higgons and brother-in-law Fren Helm, brother Leland Russell Wilson, brothers-in-law and wife Joseph and Gert Osiecki, Colbeth, Walter and Rose, Frank and Marna, Raymond and Kay, Anthony and claimed-in-law Raymond Colbreth.
