Barbara Joanne Patterson, 82, of Peoria, IL passed away on Monday December 9, 2024, at Manor Court of Peoria.
She was born on December 24, 1941, in Peoria the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Shady Rafool.
Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Patterson of Peoria, and Dina (Patrick) Hartman of Chillicothe, IL. Also surviving are one grandson Brandon Hartman, one brother Thomas Rafool of Noblesville, IN, and one sister Teresa Rafool of Peoria. Her parents and two brothers Joey and Michael preceded her in death.
A beloved daughter, mother, and esteemed member of her community, Barbara dedicated her professional life as a Court Clerk for the Peoria County Courthouse, contributing to the smooth functioning of the county government with diligence and grace. Her strong work ethic and commitment to public service earned her the respect and admiration of those she worked alongside.
The most delightful part of her life was raising her two daughters Deborah J. Patterson and Dina Lynn Hartman. Her grandson, Brandon Hartman was the apple of her eye. He brought her much happiness and joy. She absolutely adored him. She loved her son-in-law Pat Hartman as her own.
She had a good and full life and did everything she wanted to do. She traveled, worked, and met some beautiful people along the way. The best of everything was given to her growing up. Her circle of friends was the best and she loved each one of them for different reasons.
Throughout her years she was involved in multiple fundraisers and volunteer organizations. She did fundraisers for the Agency on Aging, Red Cross, and helped many different politicians. She was proud of being a former member on the Epilepsy Foundation. These are just a few of her accolades. She helped anyone who needed something. She thrived on it.
Watching the Bradley Braves was one of her favorite things to do. She was a former member of the Bradley Chiefs Club.
A hobby that she really enjoyed was playing Bingo. She would even take bus trips to play somewhere new. There were sessions of midnight Bingo that she would attend. We referred to her as "bingoinbarb".
Her list of friends was a long one. She loved them all. Going out to eat, visiting, and laughing with them made her happy.
Her favorite dishes to make were fried chicken with oil and garlic, spaghetti, and cabbage rolls. She was a wonderful cook and loved it when you shared the table with her.
Friends and family will remember her for being generous, caring, and loving. She loved going out listening to live music and dancing. She was the life of the party.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Affordable Funeral & Cremation Services of Central Illinois has been entrusted with arrangements. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Philomena's. The date will soon be determined. To share a memory or send a condolence to her family, visit www.peoriafuneral.com.

Barbara was my clerk during a Peoria Court assignment between the mid-eights and nineties-I do not remember which court, Criminal, Juvenile or Family but I remember her friendly good nature and the upbeat positivity she used to lower stress levels of all she served. She would always say "You are my favorite Judge." I suspect she said that to all her judges. May her Lord welcome and keep her till we meet again...c b bode
