Janice (Jan) Dawson, 79, of Germantown Hills, passed away on September 2, 2025, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.

She was born on November 30, 1945, in Canton, IL, to Lloyd and Inez Wilson (Bordner), where she was raised as an only child.

Jan graduated from Canton High School in 1963, then attended Midstate College for secretarial training. She worked at several Insurance companies, Peoria's Channel 19, and WABCO in the 1960's where she met her husband, Phillip.

She married Phillip Dawson of Peoria on October 21, 1967, at Canton First Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2024.

Surviving are her sons, Craig (Angela) of Peoria and Chad Dawson of Germantown Hills.

Following the birth of her children, Jan went on to become a diligent homemaker. She enjoyed sharing time with family and selflessly gave much of herself toward the needs of others. She was a caring and loyal friend to many. Hobbies included caring for her many houseplants and striking good deals at garage & estate sales. Later in life, Phil and she found much pleasure and satisfaction in the resale of many treasures through various antique malls.

Private services to be held with burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, IL. Memorials may be made to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.

I have been thinking about this thoughtful lady and gentle soul. There are many fond memories of our Cat event days together, parties, recipes (she made the best desserts!), laughs and more. Such a special wife, mother and friend!
RIP Jan and give Phil a big hug
