Barbara Jean Lowery Phillips, 85, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. She was born on July 24, 1938, to the late George and Gussie Brown Lowery. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Phillips; brother, Bill Lowery; sisters, Martha Lee Worley and Helen Brown; and great-grandson, Zachary Lumpkin.
Barbara loved her Lord, and was a faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Phillips; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Gwen Phillips; daughter-in-law, Denise Phillips; sister-in-law, Betty Lowery; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tyler) Thomas, Christopher Phillips, Nathan Phillips; great-grandchild, Dalyn Hall; great-great-grandchildren, Kadence Lumpkin and Elijah Lumpkin; nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 1:00 PM from Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Phillips, Rev. Gary Hibberts, Pastor Drew Elrod, and honorary pastor, Rev. William Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Lamar Brown, Chris Phillips, Nathan Phillips, Brent Casey, Gary Pettit, and Robert Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are the Ken Connor Memorial Sunday School Class of Salem Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church.
