Mrs. Barbara Lee Walters Pittard, 86, of Mebane, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 and is now dancing with the angels.
Barbara was born June 19, 1936 in Alamance County to Joseph Coleman Walters and Hildred Fuquay Walters. She graduated as Valedictorian of Prospect Hill High School in 1954 and then began a long career as a secretary at AT&T. She also helped establish and was co-owner of Bill’s Racing Souvenirs. She was a proud charter member of Eastlawn Baptist Church and in her free time, assisted with the election board and Meals on Wheels. Barbara loved her family deeply and lived her life to the fullest. They will miss her loving personality and the warmth and care she showed to them over the years. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, William Pittard, brothers, Durwood “Dag” Walters, James Walters, and Joseph Walters, and great-grandchild, Megan Grace Lavinder.
Barbara is survived by her son, William “Mike” Pittard and wife Lucindy; granddaughters, Ashley Nicole Pittard and Amber Miche Lavinder; step-grandchildren, Jessica Palmer, Clint Storey, and their families; great grandchildren, Dawson Thomas Pittard and Lauren Hope Lavinder; step-great-grandchildren, Haliegh Palmer Shelley, Cody Palmer, and Tyler Storey; sisters, Evelyn Payne and Rachael Foushee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11 AM – 12:45 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Alamance Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to AuthoraCare, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC, 27215.

My thoughts are with you and your family. I always enjoyed seeing Barbara and talking with her. She was a wonderful friend to my mother Brenda Compton.
