Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.Edith May Weber (Spieth), age 95, of Virginia, went home to be with the Lord she loved on Monday, March 9, 2026.
Born in LaGrange, Ohio on October 25th 1930, her parents were Nellie and Harold Spieth. She grew up on the farm with her two older brothers, Albert (deceased) and Walter (deceased). Both were missionaries.
At college, Edith met her husband Vernon and they were married in 1951. A year later they were accepted by Baptist Mid-Missions of Cleveland, Ohio. Edith and her husband were missionaries for forty-seven years. Twenty-five of those years were in the Dominican Republic and the following twenty-two years were in Spanish ministry in Florida.
Edith loved to play the piano and began playing at a young age for her church in LaGrange, Ohio. She was a church pianist all her life as a missionary and even after retirement. Edith always enjoyed playing accompaniment for her husband Vernon, who was a tenor soloist.
Survivors include her two sons, David (Shelia) Weber of Whitsett, NC and Daniel (Kim) Weber of Cortland, Ohio, her four grandchildren Jonathan (Hannah) Chappell, Jennifer (Randy) Kidd, Vanessa (Bill) Lucas and Wesley Weber, and nine great grandchildren.
Edith Weber was preceded in death by her husband Vernon of fifty-three years, her parents, two brothers, her daughter Diana, and her grandson Jonathan Weber.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Edith will be held at 11:00AM Friday, March 20, 2026 at Christian Bible Fellowship, officiating by Randy Kidd along with her two sons, David and Daniel Weber, and her grandson, Jonathan Chappell. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 9:30AM to 10:45AM at the church. The burial will be private for the family only.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Baptist Mid-Missions that would benefit the Dominican Republic Baptist Seminary. Gifts can be made by mail or by calling the Mission.
