Barbara Ann Potter, 89, of Akron, passed away on October 29, 2025. She was born on November 5, 1935 to the late Russell and Velma {Mallett} Bridgeland.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edwin Potter, her brother Ted Bridgeland and special cousin Sherry Leek.
Barbara is survived by her loving children Michelle Burdette, David Potter, Duane Potter and Ruth (Jeff) Stilgenbauer; brother, Raymond Bridgeland; grandchildren, Shelley, Kimberly, Kendall, Craig and Ali (Greg).
Barbara was a 1954 graduate of Central Howard High School. She was member of the Akron chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, a women's sorority that supported charitable organizations and supported veterans. She was a sister, aunt, wife and mother of Marines and other military members, and the causes she and her sisters supported were near and dear to her heart. She visited Ireland and London, England on some of the organizational trips. Barbara cherished their symbol, the yellow rose, which became her favorite flower, and Edwin brought them to her often.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Thursday, November 20th from 1:00 p.m until the memorial service begins at 3:00 p.m. Barbara will be privately laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park with her husband Edwin. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory are suggested to The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, or Traditions Hospice, 207 Portage Trail Ext. West Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44223.
