Barbara Elizabeth Prianti, nee Straub, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, at NYU Langone Hospital in Patchogue, NY. She was 86 years old.
Born on January 19, 1939, in Richmond Hill, Queens, Barbara was a proud graduate of The Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica, graduating in 1957. She furthered her education at Berkeley College, where she earned a two-year degree in secretarial skills. Shortly after, she moved to Long Island, settling in Huntington Station for over three decades. There she made her successful career as a secretary at the engineering firm H2M, retiring in 2004. In 2000, she moved out east to Manorville with her loving husband, Mario Prianti, who preceded her in death in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, US Corporal Joseph Schleyer, father of her children: Karen, Joanne, and Scott.
Barbara was a woman of many passions. She was a dedicated dog trainer, focusing on Labrador retrievers, and was an active member of her local dog club. An avid gardener, she spent countless hours tending to plants, indoors and outdoors. Above all, she loved her family. She cherished her six grandchildren and was delighted to have thirteen great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving children: Karen Robbins, Joanne Duignan, and Scott Schleyer. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Bryan Duignan, Tim, Keith, Jesse, Dan, and Eric Robbins, and their families.
Services will be held at the Moloney-Sinnicksons Funeral & Cremation Center. A public visitation will take place on Sunday, August 24, from 2 to 6 p.m. at 203 Main Street, Center Moriches, NY 11934. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 25, at 9 a.m., with a departure for the cemetery at 10 a.m. The interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 41 Main Street, Center Moriches, NY 11934.
