Barbara Pruitt, 74, of
St. Augustine, Florida, entered peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior at the Bailey Family Center for Caring. A devoted follower of Christ, Barbara's faith was the foundation of her life. A breast cancer survivor, she faced every challenge with courage and grace, trusting fully in the Lord. Even when her illness returned this past year, she held steadfast to God's promises, looking forward with peace and hope to her heavenly home. Her life reflected the light of Christ in kindness, humility, and steadfast love. Though her family grieves deeply, they find comfort in knowing she is healed and whole, resting in the arms of Jesus.
Barbara was born in Harlan, Kentucky, and raised in
Evarts, Kentucky. In 1971, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Gordon Pruitt. Their 54 years of marriage were a beautiful testimony of faithfulness, devotion, and Christ-centered love. Together they built a home grounded in faith, raising their children with prayer, compassion, and unwavering love.
Barbara worked for many years as a dental assistant at Clover Fork Clinic, where her gentle spirit and kind heart touched countless lives. She had a special gift for comforting others and making everyone feel cared for. After retirement, Barbara and Gordon relocated to Georgetown, Kentucky, and later, in 2023, to
St. Augustine, Florida, in order to be closer to their children and spend precious time with them and their growing family. Being near her children and grandchildren brought Barbara immeasurable joy. She treasured every gathering, every conversation, and every moment shared.
In St. Augustine, she also found peace in the beauty of the beach, often reflecting on God's goodness in the quiet of the ocean breeze. Barbara loved dancing with her husband, laughing with her family, and creating memories that will be cherished forever. Being a wife, mother, and grandmother was her highest calling and greatest blessing. She was the best mom-selfless, nurturing, prayerful, and full of unconditional love.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Benjamin; her grandfather, John D. Ball; her parents, Estill and Virginia Roark; and her brother, Johnny McGill.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Gordon Pruitt; her children, Gordon Pruitt Jr. (Kathleen), Jonathan Pruitt (Shannon), Vicki Pruitt Righter (Joseph), and Angela Blanton (Allen); her cherished grandchildren, Brittany, Kevin, Savannah, Kristen, JR, Tiffany, Gabriel, Noah, Autumn, Rebekah, Logan, Charlie, Erica and Ethan; her precious great-grandchildren; and her sister, Teresa Bufford.
Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
