Barbara Scheffler Pursley, of Granville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at Middleton Senior Living, at the age of 89. She was born on January 30, 1936, in Plainfield, New Jersey,
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Marjorie Scheffler; as well as her husband, Montel Pursley; sister, Diane Sloane; brother-in-law, Walter Pursley; sister-in-law, Vivian LaManna; and nephew, Christopher Sloane.
Survivors include her loving daughter and son-in-law, Jocelyn and Lance McDaniel; sister-in-law, Ella Pursley; nephews, Gregory (Christina) Sloane, Daniel Pursley and David (Alexandra) Pursley; and many friends.
Barbara dedicated over 30 years to her career at AT&T and Bell Laboratories. Outside of her professional life, Barbara had a zest for cooking, and particularly baking. She also found peace in nature, often walking along the Evans bike trail and exploring the beauty of Dawes Arboretum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of Central Ohio or Dawes Arboretum, organizations close to Barbara's heart.
McPeek Hoekstra Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service in Granville is honored to care for Barbara and her family during this difficult time. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family, who wish to sincerely thank everyone for their support and understanding.
