Barbara S. Rasnake
February 9, 1944 – February 5, 2023
Barbara Shifflett Rasnake, age 78 of Great Falls, VA, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2023 with her husband of 54 years, W. Dewey Rasnake, and her son, Christopher Rasnake, by her side. Barbara is survived by her husband and son; her stepson, David S. Rasnake; her sister, Linda Vaughan; her nephew and his wife, Stacey and Kimberly Vaughan, and their children, Peyton and Nina Vaughan; her aunt, Louise Swats, and one cousin, Ruth-Ann Adam. She is also survived by many other relatives and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents Raymond and Ellen Lambert Shifflett.
Barbara was born and raised in Rockingham County, VA and came to DC where she worked for the FBI for several years and where she met her husband. She later owned and operated retail stores in DC including a gift shop in the Old Post Office Building. In her later years she devoted her life to her family and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers or other expression of condolence, please consider a donation to the Inova Fairfax Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
