Barbara Ann Rhodes Wood, born on April 21, 1936, in Michie, TN, was the cherished daughter of the late James Rhodes and Gertrude Lambert Rhodes.
On July 3, 1965, she joyfully married her beloved husband, William M. Wood Jr., who preceded her in death on July 31, 2007. Their love story was a testament to companionship and shared dreams, filled with countless memories of laughter and adventure. She had a passion for traveling, particularly enjoying trips to the mountains and the beach with William, where they created lasting memories together.
Barbara was member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending there until she was no longer able to. A true animal lover at heart, she cherished her dogs and cats, fostering warmth and compassion both in her home and in the hearts of those around her.
Barbara departed this life on October 3, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 12 days. Her kindness, grace, and beauty-both inside and out-will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by a niece, Carolyn Ann (Gray) Wolfe and husband Scotty of Jackson, TN; three great nephews: Blake Wolfe, Bailey Wolfe, Peyton Wolfe; cousins, Doris Nalin of Evansville, IN and Ralph Mills of Acton, TN; and a host of extended family, friends and caregivers.
In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a sister, Carlean Gray. Barbara and Carlean shared an inseparable and life long loving bond as sisters. They talked or saw one another numerous times daily. Barbara missed Carlean dearly after her passing.
