Barbara J. Ridge (Lydon) of Quincy died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 14, 2025. Born November 28, 1933, she was born and educated in South Boston and was a graduate of South Boston High School. Beloved wife and best friend for over 50 years to the late Martin A. Ridge.
Devoted mother of Catherine M. Joyce and her husband Daniel of Quincy, Susan M. Stille and her husband Timothy of Quincy, Son- In- Law Stephen Hawko of Quincy and the late Martin J. Ridge and Barbara J. Hawko. Cherished Nana of Denise, Stephen, Daniel, Matthew, Michelle, Sean, Lauren, Bridget, Mary Kate, Martin, Patrick, Timothy and Michael. Great-Grandmother of Alaina, William, Jack, Olivia, Camryn, Cassie, Lucas, Sophia, Frank, Bryce and Ayden.
Barbara was the daughter of the late Catherine M. (Regan) and James E. Lydon. Sister of the late Alice Mahoney, James Lydon, Claire Carmody, Margaret Kelly, John Lydon, Mary Logan and William Lydon. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Barbara worked many years for the Department of Education, retiring from the Mass Archives. Barbara and Marty loved spending summers down at the cottage with their children and grandchildren. They enjoyed traveling to Vegas and Foxwoods. Barbara enjoyed luncheons at St. Brendan's Parish with the Irish Pastoral and Key Club.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial Friday at 10:30 AM in St. Mary's Church, 95 Crescent St., Quincy. Burial Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
