Barbara Ann Ryan, 77, a resident of the Scholls community passed away on September 5, 2022 at her home.
Barbara was born on in Portland, OR, on August 23, 1945 to Ray and Mary Jane (Faucette) Pierson. She was raised in Portland and graduated from Wilson High School with the Class of 1963.
Immediately after high school, Barbara attended Western Business University. While at Western, she and her cat "Missy" lived in The Martha Washington.
Barbara met her future husband, John Ryan, in 1961 while he and his bicycle group were visiting her neighbor. The two had their first date on Sauvie Island where John was racing, Barbara helped as a volunteer at the event. They were married on May 18, 1968 and made their first home in Tigard. Together they had two children.
Barbara and John founded Ryan Industries in 1979, making boat trailers. Then, in 1993 they started Ryan Technology specializing in bagel and bun slicers.
Barbara loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them "grow like weeds." She also enjoyed spending time in her backyard watching the birds, squirrels and deer, and enjoying her water fountain. Barbara and John were members of the Goat Herd, GTO club as well as the Willamette Yacht Club. She loved their family trips to the big island of Hawaii where they had a time share. Barbara had a special place in her heart for dogs, especially her pomudoodle, Bear.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother; Robert Millard.
She is survived by her loving husband; John, daughter; Sandra Ryan of Hillsboro, son; Ray Ryan of Hillsboro and two granddaughters; Hailey and Samantha.
A celebration of life will be held at the family home in Scholls on December 17, 2022 from 1pm-4pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the KEX Kids Fund. Donations can be made at 1190kex.com and clicking on KEX Kids Fund. Barbara started donating to this charity that provides eye glasses and hearing aids to kids many years ago at Christmas time, and has continues to do so every year.
