Barbara Schippert Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 8, 2026.
Barbara Ann Schippert, 83, a resident of Snyder, Colorado, passed away January 3, 2026, at UCHealth Greeley, Colorado.

Born in Neodesha, Kansas, to Lewis Gentry and Mary Henricks-Gentry, Barbara was the eldest of seven siblings. On June 24, 1961, she married the love of her life, James William Schippert, with whom she built a life centered on devotion and family.

Barbara was a woman of vast talents and many hobbies. She took great pride in her career as a crew leader at Wendy's for numerous years and was a dedicated Avon representative. She found joy in the simple and the beautiful-whether she was arrowhead hunting with her husband, crocheting, puzzling, or gardening. She had a deep affection for birds, flowers, and her collection of mice. To Barbara, life was best lived with a touch of pink and as much glitter as possible, but her favorite pastime of all was simply being with her family.

She was welcomed home by her parents, Lewis and Mary; step father Roger Underwood; her brother, Dan Gentry; and her great-grandchild, Tucker Schippert.

Her legacy continues through her husband of 64 years, James William Schippert; her children, James "Jim" (Cassandra) Schippert and Jennifer (Steve) Grooms; and her grandchildren, Chad (Laura) Schippert, Aspen Spaulding, Meghan Headley, Josh (Angela) Headley, Hannah (Vidal) Vargas, Tanner Headley, Alyssa (Steven) Fitzwater, and Gabriel Arnold. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren: Xane, Gabby, Aiden, Brayden, Jaydin, Thaylon, Jaymes, Xackery, Ariah, Preston, Lucas, Zoe, Enzo, and Nico; as well as her siblings Lawrence "Red" (Jean) Gentry, Lewis (Vita) Gentry, Elbert Gentry, Don (Lora) Gentry, and Deb (Gary) Vondy. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she loved dearly.

As per her request, no public services will be held. She will be missed by all, and remembered always. No holiday, birthday, family get together will ever be complete.

But we will always save her a seat.

Blue veined hands with wrinkled skin

Worn by time till see through thin

Once they held a lovers hand

Later on a wedding band

They gently stroked a newborn's head

Then closed in prayer beside her bed

To ask that God would lead the way

In guiding her through life each day

They labored daily sun to sun

With little rest till tasks were done

Yet found the time to aid a friend

And gave with joy when asked to lend

A lifetime's written line by line

On blue veined hands worn thin by time.
