Barbara Schull Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by North Haven Funeral Home, Inc. from Jan. 14 to Jan. 15, 2026.
Barbara E. Scarpa Schull, 94, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026, at her home in Georgia. She was the beloved wife of the late William E. Schull. Born in Derby on June 7, 1931, Barbara was the daughter of the late Angelo Hector and Ivy Dora Marshall Scarpa. She proudly worked for many years as a registered nurse at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport, where she dedicated her life to caring for others along as a teacher's aide at the YMCA. Barbara was also a devout parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church. In her younger years, Barbara was a majorette for the Connecticut Hurricanes Marching Band, a group her father helped found. She had the honor of marching in both the New York Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Pasadena, California Rose Parade-memories she cherished throughout her life. Barbara found joy in crocheting, baking, and was rarely without a word search book in hand. She loved traveling into New York City, especially for Broadway shows and lunch. Family and friends fondly remember her for her legendary brownies and chocolate pie, which were always a highlight at gatherings. Above all else, Barbara's greatest joy was her family, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally. She was the loving Mother of Jeffrey (Brenda) Schull, Marie (Roger) Couture, Kathleen Greening, William E. (Carol) Schull Jr., and the late Dr. Diane Schull. Grandmother of Adriana, Ashley and Jeffrey Jr. Schull, Heather (Matthew) Thayer and William E. Schull III, Amber (Taylor) Campbell, Christopher Couture and Alyssa (Logan) Millsaps, Brittany (Rodney) Hall and Kaitlyn (Stephen) Streets. Great grandmother of Leland and Madilynn Campbell, Beau and Connor Hall, James and Emma Thayer. Predeceased by her loving son-in-law Richard Greening.

The visiting hour will be on Friday, January 16th at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue from 09:30 to 10:30.
