I met Barbara and her husband, Bishop Gaines on a Friday night. She was my husband's cousin. As the evening went on, they told me stories of my husband.
Instantly, I knew that she was a person with a beautiful spirit. She would share her recipes with me and likewise. I'm really going to miss our conversations and mainly her laughter. They always opened their doors to me and made me feel like family. Ray and my condolences and love goes out to the family. Praying for you'll strength.

Mother Gaines was not only my friends mother (Raquel), she was family. She always treated me like I was one of her children. She always had a kind word, but she would also get you together if she needed too. My condolences go out to the entire family. May the lessons she taught, and the kind words she gave live on in your memories. I know they will live on in mine.

Being exhausted after every trip to the store with her! She´d zoom through the store on the wheelchairs but we always had a great time together. I loved being in the kitchen with her, crafting, staying up late at night chatting and laughing. Most of all I admire the amount of love and care she showed everyone she came in contact with.

Barbara was my mother´s favorite cousin (on their dad´s side). I was first introduced to her in the early 90´s, went she came to visit her son Reggie & his family when he lived in the Atlanta area. Our relationship grew from that moment, I love to see she & mom ( Nellie Yarde) talk about how they grew up in Miami. Even after mom´s passing, she still stayed in touch with me. Either I would call her or she´d reach out to me. Barbara was a a person with an amazing, lovable and always heartfelt conversations. My cousin will be truly missed, I say she´ s gone too soon, but I get comfort in knowing she´s in a better place.
