Ms. Barbara Fennell Smith, 91, of Olar, entered into rest Sunday afternoon, November 2, 2025, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Orangeburg. She was the loving wife of the late Mr. David “Jack” Smith.
Born March 26, 1934, in Charleston County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Samuel Fennell and the late Gladys Hiott Fennell. She was a member of George’s Creek Baptist Church in Olar and will always be remembered for her love of flowers and gardening. Her grandchildren were extremely special to her.
Surviving are: two daughters, Sandra Smith Hancock of Bluffton and Jacquelynn Smith Scott (Tom) of Walterboro; a sister, Tommie Fennell Padgett (Harold) of Walterboro; a brother, George “Deaka” Fennell of Walterboro; a sister-in-law, Ione Crosby Fennell of Walterboro; and three grandchildren, Anna Eleanor Kinsey, Victoria Griffith, and Victor George. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cynthia; a brother, Edgar; a sister-in-law, Kathryn; and a son-in-law, Douglas.
