Barbara R. Snell-Cochran, 92, passed away peacefully in Wesley Manor Health Care Pavilion on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

Barb was born February 25, 1932, in Frankfort, to Floyd and Sarah A. (Timmons) Galey, joining sisters, Mary Smither, Florence Keller, Thelma Pickering, and Daizie Bland, all of which preceded her in death. She married Junior H. “Buck” Snell, and he preceded her in death in 1996. They had two children, N. Jeffery (Robin) Snell of Florida and Cindy (Gary) Doss of Kentucky. In 2004, Barb married Raymond Cochran, and he preceded her in death in 2012.

A 1950 graduate from Frankfort High School, Barb worked for 25 years at Epperson Drug Store in Kirklin. After attending Ivy Tech to obtain her LPN license, she worked 19 years at Wesley Manor prior to her retirement, and later made Wesley Manor her home.

Barb was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Frankfort; a member of Eastern Star Chapter 6, where she served as a past Worthy Matron; and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Kirklin and Kirklin Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, dancing, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends.

In addition to her two children, Jeff (Robin) and Cindy (Gary), Barb is survived by three stepchildren, Brian (Denise) Cochran, Melinda (Robert) Cloud, and Donna Belcher; a grandson, Jacob Snell; eleven step-grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two half-sisters, Leanna and Colleen; a godson, Jose DeLeon; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a grandson, Nickolaus Adam; a stepson, Scott Cochran; a stepdaughter, Laurie Turner; half-sisters, Polly, Molly, and Terrie; and a step-grandchild, Stacey Stanger. 

Visitation will be Monday, August 12, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, with Chaplain Deborah Musick-Klemme officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials in Barb’s name can be made to Salvation Army or Paul Phillippe Resource Center.
