Barbara Crowe Solberg was born March 9,1931 at home near Hartland. Barb was the daughter of Ralph and Luella (Newgard) Crowe. She graduated from Freeborn High School in 1949. Barb was usually behind the scenes at Trinity. Chairing the kitchen committee or an avid church quilter. Her passion was finding fabric for the quilters to ensure the quilt mission at Trinity continued. Barb worked side by side with Joe on their crop and dairy farm. She used to brag that she could hand milk her cow before Joe got his cow milked with the mechanical bucket. She created many hand crafts, from clothes for her children, quilts for special occasions or Hardanger pieces as gifts. She made over 140 “Bless this House” wall hangings for family and friends. Barb served on the Freeborn school board. She and Joe were square dancers and members of the Sons of Norway. Barb had a quiet sense of humor inherited by her children.
