Barbara Southern was born on March 26, 1945 in Savannah, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Coley Nathaniel and Burma Mary Elizabeth Ables Umphrey.
On November 23, 1962, she was united in marriage to Millard Wayne Southern, who preceded his wife in death on March 19, 2022.
Barbara worked for Tri-Matic Spring Company as a machine operator. She loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Some of her hobbies included working crossword and word search puzzles, cooking, and gardening. Barbara was a member of Turkey Creek Union Church.
Barbara Southern departed this life on Thursday, September 19, 2024 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 24 days.
She is survived by her son, Michael Southern and his wife Regina; sisters, Maebelle McDonald, Ruby McDonald, and Cathy Bridges; grandchildren, Jacob Southern and Justin Southern; and great grandchildren, Gage Southern, Landon Southern, Donovan Southern, and Auria Southern.
In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Southern and brothers, Junior Umphrey and Danny Umphrey.
