Barbara Lee Sponenburg

HOBART, IN - Barbara Lee Sponenburg, 71, Hobart, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 17, 2022, at Aurora Baycare Medical Center, Green Bay. The daughter of William and Ruth (Christenson) Aaron was born, July 13, 1950, in Waukegan, IL.
Barbara was a graduate of Waukegan High School with the class of 1968. She married Robert Sponenburg on May 23, 1970, in Kenosha. Barbara stayed at home with their children until they were older then worked as a cashier at Palmen convenience store, Super Ron's and Festival Foods until her retirement in 2014. She was a 4H leader in Kenosha and was a member of Assumption B.V.M. Parish in Pulaski. Barbara was an avid reader and Packers fan. She enjoyed watching sports on tv, an occasional trip to the casino, going out for lunch with her friends and visiting Shipshewana, IN with her friends Gary and Nadine. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her eight children: Ann (Rodney) Sievert, Bob Sponenburg, Chris (Sandy) Sponenburg, Pat Sponenburg (Sue Cotter), Timothy Sponenburg, Steven Sponenburg (Heather Bierhals), Sheila Sponenburg and Adam Sponenburg; her grandchildren: Zachary, Nicholas, Dominic, Kennedy (Tyler), Trenton, Brandon, Joseph, Summer, Isabella, Clayton, Michael and Brooklyn; and her great-granddaughter, Brailyn. She is further survived by a brother, Dan (Cindy) Aaron; her sister, Donna Faulkner; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lois Dalziel, Helen Mazlo and Donald (Jeanie) Sponenburg; her aunt, Barbara Courington; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Robert and parents: William and Ruth, she was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law: Harry and Helen Sponenburg; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: James Faulkner, Kathleen (Carl) Christenson, John Sponenburg and Francis Sponenburg.
Friends are invited to gather with family at Marnocha Funeral Home, 186 E. Pulaski St, Pulaski, Monday, January 24, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with a parish wake service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 119 E. Pulaski St, Pulaski, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at later date in Elm Grove Cemetery, Laney.
