It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Stacy, a loving wife, mother, nana, and great-nana, born on February 16, 1944, in Portales, NM, to Barbara Pearlene Shiplett. She passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, September 21, 2025. The viewing of Barbara will be held on Thursday at Heartland Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Her services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Heartland Funeral Home with interment Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early.

She lived life with boundless love and enthusiasm, and her family was always her first love. Her most cherished memories were those she spent with her family - whether on a fishing trip, camping under the stars, or hunting in the great outdoors. Her spirit and laughter touched every corner of her family's life.

Barbara was a devoted wife to her husband, Alvin Stacy. They were married on October 12, 1963, and enjoyed a great 62 years together. She was a proud mother of Sheila and Lonnie Holland of Blanket, TX, Randy and Cheri Stacy of Hugo, OK, and Tim and Jessica Stacy of Carlsbad, NM. She was preceded in death by her young son, Scotty Stacy. She was also the adored nana to Shree and Jeff Kuhlers, Brittany and Jay Adams, Ricky Stacy, Bradley Stacy, Kellie Stacy, Bree Stacy, Roper Stacy, and Bailey Marin. She was a great-grandmother to Adalyn Holland, Emory, Kennedy, Kohen, and Wrenley Kuhlers, Ryann Adams, and Emmory Stacy. Her brother Dennis Shafer of Clovis, NM. She always made time to tell stories, offer advice, or simply share a quiet moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She possessed a surreal talent for making every person feel loved and special, a gift that she bestowed upon her family daily.

Only her love for family competed with her passion for nature. From fishing in a quiet lake to sitting by the campfire in the company of her loved ones, Barbara made memories that would last a lifetime. She will be sorely missed, but her legacy of love, joy, and adventure will survive, inspiring everyone who knew her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Pealene Trower, and her stepfather, Ralph Trower; her son, Scotty Stacy; and her brothers, Donnie and Ronnie Shafer.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Colon Cancer Research or to a charity in her name.
