Barbara Stanley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beyers Funeral Home & Crematory - Umatilla on Mar. 13, 2026.
Barbarba Ann Stanley, 77 years old, of Umatilla, Florida, died in Orlando, Florida, due to advanced metastatic melanoma on March 5th, 2026.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on February 6, 1949, to Zygmund and Helena Belczyk. She graduated from St. Peters High School in New Jersey, then went to Taylor Business Institute. Her first job was as an executive assistant at Squibb in New Jersey.

Barbara met Martin in 1972, while at an American Legion party. They got married on May 20, 1973. Shortly thereafter, they moved from New Jersey to Ocala, Florida, and later to Umatilla, where they enjoyed 42 years of marriage.

They welcomed the birth of their daughter Jennifer in March 1976, their son Christopher in 1978, and daughter Jessica in 1981. Although, she loved her kids, Barbara's favorite role was as grandmother to Max, Julia, Lauren, Camden, and Brianna. She treasured her time and creating memories with her grandkids.

Barbara was passionate about her job as a special education teacher's aide at Umatilla high school for 28 years. She prided herself on bringing kindness to her students and trying to brighten their days. Many times she would find ways to go the extra mile by celebrating holidays or the high school graduation of her students.

She loved reading, crocheting, being with her family and friends and cheering at all of the Umatilla High School sports. She thoroughly enjoyed her GNO – "Girls Night Out" – group where she would share regular evenings out with lifelong friends. She would always send a card to friends to remember a birthday, anniversary or to send healing words when they were dealing with an illness.

Barbara will always be remembered for her kindness, laugh, and always bringing joy to anyone for any reason, any time of day. She went out of her way to make sure that everyone felt loved and mattered. We couldn't have asked for a better parent, grandparent, friend, or co-worker.

Barbara was preceded in death by Martin and her daughter Jessica. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Stanley Albertson, (Brent), her son Christopher Stanley (Christina), sister-in-law Susan Stanley Grant (Gary) and niece Kat Grant Carver (Dylan); and her grandchildren; Max, Julia, Lauren, Camden and Brianna.

Visitation is Friday, March 27th at 10 a.m. and the service is at 11 a.m., both at Beyers Funeral Home in Umatilla, Florida. Inurnment to follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating a children's book to your local library or to your local Humane Society.
