Barbara Steinberg

Barbara Steinberg of Phoenix, Arizona, and Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her Arizona home on December 23, 2025, after a long battle with multiple myeloma.
Barbara ("Dolly") was born on November 8, 1935 to Rose and Louis Simon in Steubenville, Ohio. She grew up in Chicago and graduated from Chicago Teachers College with a bachelor's degree in education. At age 19, she married her first husband, Richard Mandel. Barbara always loved children, and she worked as a kindergarten teacher in Chicago Public Schools for many years, before and after taking a break to raise her own children.
In the 1990s, Barbara and Richard retired and followed their dream to live in Arizona. After Richard's death in 2000, Barbara met and married her second husband, Bernard Steinberg of Chandler, Arizona.
Barbara's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to Naomi Horovitz and Amy Munoz. Her grandchildren, Sebastian Munoz, Francesca Munoz, and Miranda Horovitz will sorely miss their "Nama." She also leaves her son-in-law Cezar Horovitz.
Barbara was preceded in death by her two husbands, Richard Mandel and Bernard Steinberg, and her brothers Norman Simon and Ronald Simon.
