Barbara E. Sterett, 79, of Silver Bay, has sadly passed away at home on Sunday, April 13, 2025. She was born on June 7, 1945 to John & Margaret Hudyma in Two Harbors, MN.
Barbara served two terms as Mayor of Beaver Bay, MN. She was proud to serve her community, and in the accomplishments that were made for the betterment of the City. She was also a former business owner of Superior Auto and Beaver Bay Inn. She continued serving Beaver Bay as a member of the City Council and Liquor Commission until she moved in 2021.
Barb also enjoyed putting on plays, talent shows and organizing the annual Beaver Bay Days. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her grandkids by taking them fishing, having nightly campfires in her yard, setting up their very own kids fort in her garage and playing cards.
Barb is preceded in death by her parents, John & Margaret Hudyma; brothers, Roger Hudyma (Pauline), and Daniel Hudyma; sister, Janice Scmitt (John); sister-in-law, Sandra Hudyma; and her son, Arthur (Art) Klofstad.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Shepherd; brothers, David Hudyma, Irvin Hudyma (Carolyn), Williard Hudyma (Marcia); sister-in-law, Connie Hudyma; and grandchildren, Michael Klofstad, Kayla Klofstad and Nathan Shepherd.
Visitation will begin at 10:00am and Memorial Service at 11:00am on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay, MN. Burial will be at Crystal Bay Cemetery in Finland at a later date.
