Barbara Janith Stingl

Barbara Janith Stingl (nee Hume), passed away peacefully on December 8th, 2023, at the age of 93, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, with her daughters and friends at her side. Barb was born August 16th, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Esther Hume (Raske) and Joseph Hume. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Rob; and her husband of 20 years, Charles (Chuck) Stingl. Barb is survived by her daughters: Karen Knusta, Joann Gable (Ken), and Linda Stingl (Joe Klobucar); beloved grandsons, Casey and Romeo Klobucar; and her dear nieces and nephews. 

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 22nd at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church at N6 W31449 Alberta Drive, Delafield, Wisconsin. Visitation will start at 1 pm with Service from 2 pm to 3 pm. 

Celebration of Life to follow at Ingleside Hotel, 2810 Golf Road, Pewaukee, WI - around 3:30 pm til 7 pm.

Barb’s wishes were for her body to be donated for medical research to the Medical College of Wisconsin, along with her Mother, Father, and Brother. 

Barb graduated from Rufus King High School. Barb loved working together to plan their 65th reunion with lifelong friend, Dave Johnson. During the Korean War, Barb proudly served alongside Chuck in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955, in Texas, and then Alaska. In San Antonio, Barb became a well-known radio personality at KITE where she lent her voice to commercials and spun KITE’s daily Wheel of Fortune. Offered a position as the station’s office manager, she turned it down to join Chuck at Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Barb had a successful career and retired as a top investment salesperson at Republic Savings & Loan (TCF). She set a record that earned her an all-expense paid shopping spree to Mall of America in Minneapolis. In her free time, Barb loved nothing more than being with her family. Barb rarely turned down a dance, fish fry, or social outing. Barb especially enjoyed traveling with her daughters and friends to Las Vegas, going on cruises, and visiting Dee and Don, lifelong friends she met in Alaska, at Rehoboth Beach - Funland amusement park. These trips created cherished memories for all. 

Barb has been deeply missed by her daughters, sons-in-law, grandsons, family, beloved friends, and caregivers whose lives she touched. She will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her empathy, kindness, sense of humor, and genuine interest in and care for others will be missed by all. 

A special thanks to our friends and Brookdale caregivers who doted on her with: treats, cards and letters, Bingo games, art projects, doing her hair and nails, and spent holidays with her/us. You know who you are
