Barbara Jean Taylor, 80, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Cherry Point Bay Nursing Home.
A funeral service to honor Barbara’s life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 17th at Munden Funeral Home. Interment will take place on Saturday, February 24th, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Pendleton, Indiana.
Barbara was born on June 29, 1943, in Ansonia, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Vera Boone. She was a beloved member of her home church, Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church. Barbara loved the fellowship that she found there. She spent many hours tending and caring for her yard. She had a green thumb which was obvious looking at all her beautiful flowers.
Barbara was a warm and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered for her kindness, generosity, and love for her family and community.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sharon S. Brobst (Keith) of Wind Gap, PA, Sheila K. Gray (Michael) of New Bern, NC; son, Steven L. Oyler (Sharma) of Texas; sister, Lois Currens of Georgia; grandchildren, Adam Brobst (Eni), Joshua Brobst (Rachel), Jessica Oyler, Michael Gray (Kristy), Ashley Huff (Gary), Sarah Christman, Robert Christman (Hannah), Matthew Gray (Ashton), Jennifer Blackard, Celina Oyler, Jacob Willyard (Brenda), James Willyard, Daryl Thompson, and Justine Thompson (Kaylee); and great-grandchildren, Nicholas Agudelo, Adam Brobst Jr., Selina Brobst, Leah Brobst, Owen Brobst, Delany Huff, Savannah Huff, Mason Gray, Kylee Gray, Scarlett Christman, Theodore Christman, Milan Oyler, Nick Oyler, Ayden Willyard, Kristina Blackard, Zamyah Blackard, Austin Thompson, Trevyn Thompson, Wyatt Thompson, and Hyatt Thompson.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husbands, Ephraim W. Oyler Jr. and Larry L. Taylor; son, Lonnie Filbrun; sisters, Laverna Boone and Ruth Hurst; and brothers, Jesse Boone and Ralph Boone.
