Barbara Giles Thorpe

Barbara Giles Thorpe, 84, of Mapleton, Utah passed away peacefully on May 31st after a courageous battle with a failing heart. Her parents were Tadd and Mildred Giles of Springville. She married her sweetheart Taylor Thorpe. They were together for 65 years before Taylor’s passing in 2020.  

Barbara had a heart of gold and showed it right to the end.  As we checked on her she was more concerned with how we were doing.  

Barbara loved to travel and play games with her family and traveling buddies.  She loved to camp, ride four wheelers and watch her grandkids play sports.  But most of all she loved her family.

Barbara is survived by her two sons Brad and Tadd (Jill), her six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, her sister Ardith (Glen) Ruff and many nieces and nephews.  She was always known as their favorite aunt.  She was preceded in death by Taylor, her parents and sister Loretta Blackett.  

A viewing will be held Wednesday, June 5th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.
