Lynn passed away from a sudden heart attack on July 21st, 2024, at the age of 79. He held on long enough to be surrounded by his wife and all his children.

He was born to Donald Cahoon and Florence Corbett Panter in Logan, Utah. He married Lynette Balls on September 9, 1966, in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple. They raised 6 children together.

Lynn graduated from Grace High School, attended Idaho State University and then Brigham Young University where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Lynn worked as a mechanical engineer moving his family from Soda Springs, Idaho to Orange, California, then to Oakdale, California and finally to Mapleton, Utah

As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lynn served many callings including Bishop, High Councilor for 3 different stakes, Stake YM President, Sunday School Teacher and Family History Specialist. Lynn and Lynette served an LDS mission in the Africa West Area for Welfare Services and has been the highlight of their retirement. In recent years, they also enjoyed living part time in St. George where they hauled their e-bikes and loved riding the trails.

Lynn was an organizer to the extreme and kept his kids working hard all through their growing up. He enjoyed working in his yard, golfing, helping his kids with projects and harvesting his vegetables. He left this life with many to-do lists on his desk.

As per his current to-do list, there will only be a Celebration of Life at the Wheeler & Sundberg Funeral Home in Mapleton, Utah because there are lawns to be mowed and things to be fixed so don’t waste your time feeling sorry for him. A graveside service will be held in Grace, Idaho on Friday, July 26th at 2pm at the Grace Cemetery.

Lynn is survived by his wife Lynette, son Mike (Jody) Panter (Floresville, TX), daughter Teri (Lincoln) Jacobs (Lindon, UT), Tami (Pete) Madsen (Lehi, UT), Todd (Julie) Panter (Eagle Mountain, UT), Nathan (Jessica) Panter (Spanish Fork, UT), and Tiffany (Amy) Panter (Holladay, UT), 23 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Steve (Carson City, NV), Gary (Meridian, ID) & Kip (Smithfield, UT).
